RFP (Request for Proposal)

A request for proposal asks suppliers to propose how they would meet a need, including approach, capabilities and pricing, rather than quoting a fixed specification.

Where it appears in procurement

RFPs suit services and complex projects where the buyer wants suppliers to shape the solution. For standard goods with a clear specification an RFQ is faster and easier to compare.

Example

A company asking logistics providers to propose a distribution network for a new region issues an RFP; the same company buying pallets issues an RFQ.

In Complyra

Complyra's workflow is built around RFQs for defined product requirements; it does not run RFP evaluations.
