RFI (Request for Information)

A request for information is a preliminary enquiry used to learn what suppliers can offer before a formal request is issued.

Where it appears in procurement

Buyers use an RFI to build a supplier longlist and understand capabilities, certifications and capacity. It usually has no pricing commitment.

Example

Before sourcing medical trays, a buyer asks candidate suppliers whether they hold ISO 13485 certification and which materials they process.

In Complyra

Much of what an RFI gathers (certifications, categories, regions) is already captured when a supplier registers and is reviewed on Complyra, so buyers can go straight to a compliant shortlist and an RFQ.
