Glossary

Restricted substance

A restricted substance is a chemical whose presence in a product is limited or banned by a regulation, usually expressed as a maximum concentration.

Where it appears in procurement

Limits are set per material or per product and differ between regulations. Evidence is a test report showing measured values below the limit.

Example

RoHS limits lead to 1,000 ppm per homogeneous material; EU 10/2011 limits BPA migration to 0.05 mg/kg of food.

In Complyra

The regulation dataset records restricted substances and limits where a regulation sets them, and the compliance check compares declared materials against them.
